Ways to develop your business networks

May 27

As part of any proper business training an individual will learn the importance of networking. Networking in business is the best way to market a business to increase sales and make contacts throughout the business world. There are many different ways to network a business, including in-person meetings, phone calls, emails, and using social networking sites such as Linked In, Twitter, and Facebook.

Business Description

Every person in the business should have what is known as an “elevator speech.” This is simply a fifteen to twenty second description of the company. The idea behind this form of networking is that you are on an elevator and only have the time in between the floors in order to describe the business. It is important to make an impact on the person as they may be a potential client. This can also pertain to text-based descriptions for a business as well. If too much information is given all at once the person will become bored and uninterested. Practice an elevator speech to use at any time in order to be able to describe the business in a unique and succinct manner to build a large network.

Be Unique

In the world of business, it is important to stand out. Many people meet other individuals in the business on a regular basis. In order to network to the fullest potential it is important to make sure that you stand out among the competitors. Make a list of what makes your company different from others. These differences should be appealing and offer an advantage to the potential client. Additionally, it is important to suggest what you are seeking from a business networking relationship with the other person or company. Give the other person a reason to want to work with you.

Be generous

Another important aspect of networking is to give before you receive. Offer the person something before they have offered you anything. This is a great way to start a relationship with an individual or business. If they see that you are willing to help they are going to be more forthcoming toward your business.

Networking is extremely important as it offers a way to market your company at a very low cost. Networking is a fairly simple process if a person is willing to do a little leg work in order to meet people that work for or know people in their particular niche. With the above tips in mind, you can get started in creating a large network to help your business grow and improve.

Reporting Tips For a Mid-Sized Company

Mar 20

As midsize firms endeavour to cut costs and smooth business transactions, managers have developed a need for a single, integrated reporting solution that can address a full range of reporting requirements.  With capabilities such as dashboards, key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, reports, analysis and alerts, a reporting system that brings together all the key business intelligence (BI) capabilities would enhance decision-making and make managing performance easier. While an integrated reporting system should leverage existing IT infrastructure, it should also have the ability to grow with the changing needs of the company.

Some of the many advantages to a single integrated reporting system include:

Improved decision making: The value of a reporting system is simple: it helps you track and understand your company’s performance and take action on relevant information.  It also creates a common platform for decision-making across all departments and is an integral part of performance management.

Instant visibility: Employees and contractors won’t have to waste time searching through endless reports to find crucial information. With the help of dashboards, rules, alerts, and exception reporting, users can readily access relevant information about changes in performance, sales figures and pricing.

Everyday usability: A single, integrated web interface should be fast and easy to use. It offers an analytics solution that turns everyday business transactions into usable data, informing decision making and empowering employees to improve performance.

Instant customisations: the easy to use interface makes it easy to import ongoing CRM customisations for different functions or users. This means that the same reporting system can be customised to suit the various individual needs of its user across departments.

With over 20 years’ experience in business software integration, Markinson delivers world-leading enterprise planning, consolidation and BI software and services to help companies plan, understand and manage operational performance.

How to find an international surgery position?

Jan 15

Surgeons are highly regarded and sought in the medical profession all over the world. Obtaining international surgery positions in countries such as Australia, UK, Singapore and USA is quite common and involves ensuring your qualifications and experience meet the standard set by each particular nation. There are a number of requirements necessary to work in these countries.

Surgery positions usually fall into one of the following categories which are standard across Australia, UK, Singapore and the USA. These include:

  • General Surgery
  • Orthopaedic Surgery
  • Urology
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Endocrine Surgery
  • Plastic Surgery
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • Neurosurgery

Surgery in all of these countries is similar, and the surgical techniques and equipment used are usually identical in Western hospitals. This allows surgeons to work almost anywhere in the world. To work in Australia, Singapore, UK and the USA, you will need qualifications and experience that meets the following level. These qualifications have been assessed to be of the same level, and will meet the requirement standards of the countries listed.

- UK

FRCS (England, Ireland, Edinburgh or Glasgow) plus Certificate of Accreditation from the joint Committee of Higher Surgical Training in the UK or UK Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training

- USA

Certificate of the American Board of Surgery
Certificate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery
Certificate of the American Board of Paediatric Surgery
Certificate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery
Certificate of the American Board of Urology

- Australia

FRACS membership (Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons)

Many medical schools and health institutions have international relationships with their peers. This allows surgeons to search for medical jobs in other countries, and to be supported throughout the process of applying for international positions. This can include obtaining working visas or permanent residency, setting up medical and language proficiency tests that are set by each country for overseas doctors, and assistance in relocating and registering in a new place of work.

There are many health employment agencies that can also assist in this process, and provide an all in one service for searching for international work as well as providing information on necessary requirements. Institutions such as this ensure that surgeons can go to where they are needed, and provide circumstances for surgeons to employ their skills in saving and improving people’s lives around the world.

Ink Jet Coding Vs. Laser Coding

Aug 10

Laser coding and the inkjet coding are two types of coding that have dominated the printing industry. While the inkjet coding has been in use for quite a while, the laser coding has gained prominence only in the last five years and this is because of its capability to provide printing at high speeds, its flexibility and the size and print area that it can cater to. On the other hand, inkjet coding is particularly popular in industrial use due to its intrinsic characteristics of being low in cost, high in speed, compatibility to various substrates, thermo-chromic colour changes and non permanency of ink. However, one must understand that both inkjet coding and laser coding are complementary technologies, which can be used as the need arises.

Although the technologies in both types of coding are different, yet their use is not limited to any specific area and they can be used interchangeably. However, the use of laser coding is dependent on the substrates, the complexity of the message and the speed of the line. Therefore, for surfaces that are easy to laser, like cardboard or paper, low powered laser coding can be used. However, if the lines of production range from medium to high speed and the message is complex then a more powerful laser is required to perform the coding. Also, for surfaces that are hard to code, more powerful laser printers are required.

Inkjet coding, as the name mentions, uses ink to code a surface or make a mark. On the other hand, the laser coding is devoid of any consumables such as ink. However, the use of the laser has by products such as glass particles that need to be extracted and filtered. Thus, filter changes are more frequent in laser coding than inkjet coding. The spare parts and new filters can be costly and add to the cost of the laser coding.

There is one significant benefit to laser coding and that is its permanency of the mark, which is not the case with inkjet coding. This feature helps in checking counterfeiting. Cost effectiveness is another benefit of the laser coding, as there is no use of consumables, thus operational costs are lower than inkjet coding costs.

However, laser coding too has its limitations, and the foremost of these is the limitation of substrates that can be coded with the laser coding. The inkjet coding has the benefit of a wide range of substrates being coded and the ability to wash off the coding in alkaline baths which is not possible with laser coding.
