Coal Seam Gas

One of the products found long with coal deposits is Coal Seam Gas. It is also known as coal seam methane. It is found just below the surface or even at several feet below the ground. The home of coal seam is at Queensland. CSG is a part of natural gas and is predominant with methane gas, which is held under the pressure of coal. The content of carbon dioxide is very low in it and has no hydrogen sulphide, due to which it is known as sweet gas. Coal seam gas creates a dangerous surrounding during underground mining increasing the risk alongside safety. CBM is nothing but the coal bed methane, which is widely different from typical gas reserves as it is along with coal stored under absorption.
CSG and its types
CSG, which is illustrated as Coal Seam Gas, is a major component of natural gas. Businesses with coal have become extremely profitable and there are several stakeholders and shareholders making the most out of it.
There are two ways to mine coal, one is surface and the other is underground/deep mining. CSG and its types are classified based on the content of oxygen, carbon dioxide and hydrogen content in it. Lignite, anthracite, bituminous and sub-bituminous are some of the typical low classified, hard coal and soft/ semi-soft coal found in the world.
CSG Exploration
Gas level investigations are performed on different underground levels of 150-250 mts. The results are 0.5-1.0 mDcs/ton on an average. There are several CSG exploration mines with historic residues, which provide us with a probable and proven gas reserves as well. Origin continues to develop and construct commercial coal seam gas resource, which is a major component of natural gas.
